Flaherty's Maple Pecan Scones

Oven: 425 degrees
Ingredients: * 3 1/2 cups all purpose or white whole wheat flour * 4 teaspoons baking powder * 1 teaspoon salt * 2/3 cup butter * 1 cup plus 1 tablespoon milk * 1/2 cup maple syrup
1. Preheat oven; grease baking pan. 2. Combine the flour, nuts, baking powder and salt in a large bowl; mix well. 3. Using a pastry blender or 2 forks, cut in the butter in small pieces till mixture resembles coarse crumbs. 4. Add the milk and 6 tablespoons of maple syrup. to the dry ingredients. Mix till the mixture clings together and forms a soft dough. 5. Turn the dough out on a lightly floured surface and knead 4 to 5 times lightly. Divide the dough in half, and pat or roll out a piece to a 7 inch round. 6. Cut round into 4 wedges, and place on pan, Repeat with the other round. 7. Prick the tops of the scones all over with a fork and brush tops of scones with 2 tablespoons maple syrup. 8. Bake till golden brown, about 15 to 18 minutes. Cool scones on wire rack for 10 minutes.
