Along the trails at Medoc Mountain, we were stuck by the Euonymus_americanus bush, with orange berries that apparently had burst from a strawberry-like structure. These evergreen shrubs are in the Celastraceae family and very different from eatable stawberries (which are in the Fragaria family).

At the summit of Medoc Mountain, we found Callicarpa_americana bushes. These had a helpful sign identifying them.
