| + | Preparation: | ||
| + | - To proof the yeast: add dry yeast to the 1/4 cup warm water, add a little sugar, and stir. Let rise for about 5 minutes. | ||
| + | - Scald the milk (heat over medium heat in saucepan till little bubbles form at the edges of the milk; do not let it boil). | ||
| + | - Remove milk from heat, add the 1/4 cup butter, salt and 1/4 cup sugar and mix. Place the mixture in a large mixing bowl. | ||
| + | - Add half of the flour, then add the yeast mixture and the beaten egg, stirring well. | ||
| + | - Add the rest of the flour, and when it pulls away from side of bowl, move to a floured board to knead. Knead for 8-10 minutes, til dough is smooth, adding flour as needed. | ||
