El's Chocolate Chip Cookies

This is the closest recipe I've found that produces the same thick Toll House Cookies I remember as child.

• 1/2 cup unsalted butter
• 1/2 cup brown sugar
• 1/4 cup granulated sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 1 large egg, room temp
• 1 1/2 cup flour
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup chocolate chips (or 1/2 cup large chocolate chips; or 3/4 cup chopped walnuts and 1/4 cup chocolate chips)

* Preheat oven to 350°F * Melt butter (not too hot) * Combine sugars * Add butter, vanilla, and egg to sugars * Sift in flour with baking soda and salt mixed in * Stir until flour *almost* disappeared and then stir in chocolate chips and/or walnuts * Bake 11-12 minutes (only 10 minutes in convection oven)
