Chinese brown sauce

  • 3 parts soy sauce
  • 2 parts Chinese cooking wine / rice wine vinegar
  • 2 parts hoisin (optional)
  • 1 part honey
  • 1 part sesame oil
  • 4-6 parts chicken stock / vegetable stock
  • 1 part corn starch
  • 1 part gochujang or chili oil (optional)
  • Chopped garlic and ginger (optional)

All ingredients are variable, use to taste! Heat in pan for about a minute to thicken, then add cooked ingredients back to pan!

Easy stir fry:

  • Fry sliced and pressed tofu or seitan in oil and garlic, remove from pan.
  • Fry any other veggies you want (pepper, onion, carrot, etc) in same pan and remove.
  • Blanche broccoli in boiling water for about a minute.
  • Cook sauce in pan, return ingredients to pan, and voila!
