Broccoli with Asian Garlic Sauce

Serves 4 as side serving


  • 4 cups broccoli florets and peeled stem slices
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • red pepper flakes to taste
  • (1 can straw mushrooms or bamboo shoots or water chestnuts)


  1. In a bowl, whisk the garlic, soy sauce, broth, (red pepper flakes) and cornstarch.
  2. In a large skillet over medium high heat, add sesame oil and then broccoli. Cook for about 4 minutes,stirring often to prevent burning.
  3. Reduce heat to medium low, add can of vegetable and then add garlic sauce. Stir well to coat.
  4. Cook for about 3 minutes, stirring. Sauce will thicken and coat the vegetables.
