Katherine Hepburn's Brownies: (12 squares)

Preheat Oven to 325°

•2 squares unsweetened chocolate ( •¼ lb. butter •1 cup granulated sugar •2 eggs •½ tsp. vanilla •¼ cup flour •¼ tsp. salt •1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Melt chocolate with butter in saucepan over very low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Quickly stir in flour, salt, and walnuts. Spread batter in a well-greased 8×8 in. baking pan, and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Remove pan from oven and let cook. After cooled for about 30 minutes cut and remove from pan.
